hey guys. im just doing the wiring for my front speakers and trying to get the wire through the rubber grommet that connects all the electrics to the door yeah. and i cant get it through anyone found an easier way to do it?
thanks alot
I did it useing a piece of straightened coat hanger taped to the cable and i smeared washing up liquid over the cable, Slid straight in![]()

coat hanger and LOTS OF SPIT
do you reckon it matters if i just run the wire next to the grommet?
I'm not sure about your VR, but in both my VT and VZ I was able to "unclip" the plastic body at each end of the rubber "tube" from the door and the pillar. Once that's done it's a whole lot easier to get the wire through - then clip the plastic body back in. Voila!
(BTW - if it was me I wouldn't just run the cable beside the rubber cover - for both appearance and reliability's sake. I've seen a shorted speaker wire nearly set fire to a car - running under upholstery, getting hotter and hotter as bags of current flowed in it. Scorched the upholstery foam, and nearly had it catching fire before the amp fried) That's just my preference though....

i just did wat Greg said a few weeks ago in the VP so id say the VR's would b the same it was easier 2 take the door skin off and push that grommet 1 through with ur fingers, the other grommet on the pillar u can pull out after wen u have something 2 grab onto then.

I just payed an electricion (dad) 3 beers first then asked him to do it lmao
Acctually he was more then happy to show me how to do it properly with the conduit, then after the first door and another coldie and a chat with my mates, he then continued to do a second one, then the 3rd, but we decided we wanted a go!
Plastic conduit worked the best because it didnt peirce the rubber like I did in my VX when i used wire, but it can be a pain to do![]()
theres no need to put the wires trhough the grommet, just use the cable that is already there and wire it up to your new stuff, i think the right side is two green wires and the left side is 2 brown ones
yeah, what manual_vr said. For the left hand side, you can take off the glove box and you can access the two wires for the left speakers. From memory i think they are brown and white wires. You'll be able to know because of the factory plug-in style connectors for the speakers.
On the other side, there's a light green speaker wire and a dark green speaker wire. to access that, all you have to do is screw off the plastic bit at the end on the drivers side. Pull that off gently and you'll be able to access those speaker wires.
From what I've done, it's much easier than feeding speaker wire through the grommet into the doors.
hope that helps.

CD tuner: Alpine CDA-9884E with Ipod interface
Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
but then if you ever want to revert to the headunit for sound. you have cut the wires. and there would be too much fiddling. i put my own through and run them to the amp. sounds good

im glad it sounds good![]()
