Just a quick one... Im wanting to cover the following in sound deadener in the VN:
Whole boot, including bootlid
Parcel shelf
Whole floor/trans tunnel/behind back seat
All 4 doors.
Will one lot be enough at 62.5 square feet or do I need two lots at 125 square feet?
Also, is it then worth covering the sound deadener in a foam product?
you'll most probably need 2 dynamat bulk packs at least to do that (dont quote me on that), depends on how nuts you go with it. I dont think you'll need any foam product, but perhaps invest in some diffusers behind your door speakers.
Dynamat bulk packs are 36 square feet so 2 is 72 square feet. I might go 2 lots of the stuff im getting then which will make it 125 square feet.
Im using Raammat BXT instead of Dynamat Xtreme. I was looking at purchasing seven yards of Ensolite closed cell foam to lay over the top, but i've never been in a car thats laid stuff over the sound deadener so im not sure if it will yield any benefits.
fair enough. If you do get 2 packs then and manage to use all of it, I wouldnt bother with the foam on top, as 125 sq ft is already overkill
Good luck with it man, gotta get around to doing mine again some day...
Ah excellent. Thanks mateJust gotta wait for it to arrive now.
p.s. 7,000 posts lol!
hey just out of interest, how much is the going rate for one of those Raammat packs?
For the floor of the car and around the wheel arches, i'd use some foam on top of the deadener to absorb road noise coming through the panel.
dylan where are you getting the roles from champ? thats not a bad price at all.
agreed thats a good price. wouldnt mind picking up a roll myself...![]()
You get it direct from RAAMmat, Google it for their website![]()
I have heard some of the cheaper ones, they sound nowhere near as good. Ebay, $250 for a Dynamat extreme bulk back delivered express, and he is quick too.
I soundproofed my boot last weekend with Dynamat. Magnificent. Alot of the cheaper ones peel off easily and don't do as good as you would think.

Also the Dynamat bulk pack is only 36 square metres.
For those interested you get RaamMat direct from the company... But USPS no longer do surface mail so you either have to pay the price of air mail which is steep, or Rick from RaamMat can give you the contact details of their distributor in Singapore who can send it via surface mail.
I used just over 2 boxes (9 sheets a box - total 21 sheets used) of Dynamat Extreme on my boot alone in my VS. Works a bloody treat, I read that review and sounds like your found a sure thing, hopefully.
hey pugga
when you have you boot shut with your system amped up, are there any rattles at all when you stand behind the car?
Having "Dynamat" printed on the foil doesn't warrant spending 2.5 times as much cash for basically the same product![]()
Correct you are, but alot of the other matting i have heard, is well..............****........ i'd rather spend the extra and know i'll get results rather than taking a risk with some other brand because it's cheaper.

Im not getting RaamMAT because its cheaper, im getting it because thats what they reccomended in the sound deadener showdown. If I couldnt get RaamMAT i'd probably fork out for damplifier pro instead, then dynamat xtreme.
There are alot of other great quality sound deadeners out there mate.
Dont be fooled into thinking Dynamat is the be all and end all just because we live in Australia where everybody loves dynamat simply because it is the only dedicated car audio sound deadener commercially available (other than perhaps e-dead which is ****). Dynamat Xtreme is great stuff, but at the same time there are better quality sound deadeners out there, and also equivalent sound deadeners out there available at a considerable discount. The problem is, they're not in Australia. So all the 'cheap' sound deadeners you hear here are probably closer to simple foam than sound deadener, or ashphalt based. Really, its the same deal with ricers and fusion or Sony Xplod. They think they're the best brands out because all the wicked lancers have Sony Xplod and Fusion stickers on their back windows, and its all thats pushed at their local Strathfield... They would never have heard brands like MB Quart, Rainbow etc. and would probably laugh when they heard those brand names thinking their Xplod gear sounds off tap in comparison.
Hey i have sony gear, If i could afford better gear i would have, MB Quart, Infinity, even the alpine gear is really nice and is alot better, but for what its worth i don't mine my sony gear at all and it goes alright too. it all about your own taste, i like the bass my 4 kenwoods produce but not really a fan of my mates 2 Type X's, but i would have his infinity kappa speakers any day over mine
