    Default Wiring Amp

Hi guys, i am new to car audio and i am wiring up my first sound system. Just have a question.

On the side of my 4ch amp there are 4 holes im pretty sure they are called the Line-input, there are 2 white and 2 red holes and when i put a plug in one of the white and red holes to run to my head unit only my sub works and not the 2 rear speakers but when i switch the two plugs over to the other white and red hole the speakers work but not the sub. How can i get them to work all at the same time?

    Cheers

Welcome to the car audio scenario

What you'll need is an RCA splitter for the two rear speakers. A 1-into-2 RCA splitter to be precise.
    My car audio:

CD tuner: Alpine CDA-9884E with Ipod interface
    Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms

So i need the 2 chords that come from the head unit to split into 4 so i can connect it to all 4 holes? Is that correct?

Yeah, if you want to buy 2 RCA y-splitters, but another way that it can be done is you use one RCA plug (white or red) from the head-unit to the amp for the subwoofer (since it's only one speaker hence one RCA plug). Then you need a 1-into-2 RCA y-splitter to plug into the 2 other RCA plugs on the amp, giving you a total of 3 RCA plugs used up on the amplfier.

Ok thanks heaps for that. So it doesn't matter what colour plug goes into the amp for the sub? White or black.

I dont think it does matter, but just experiment a bit and you will get it.

Thanks mate, just another question. I plugged my sub up just by itself and im finding it hard to get some noise out of it. When i turn it up it starts to distort and i can't get much volume and bass out of it, the speakers give out more volume and bass than it does.

What can i do to get more volume and bass from it?

    Cheers

Try turning up the gain control and see if you get anything. What kind of sub and amp do you have?

I have a Kenwood 12" 1000watt sub and a Avalance 600watt amp. I think it may be my amp, it was only a cheapy cause i wasn't planning on running a sub.
