Hi All,
What do people think of the Eclipse Amp and brand and in particular the EA4000 model? Are there any good? It's power a Alpine type r 12 inch Sub. Would people go for an Alpine 2 channel instead?
Judging by the power figures that the amp produces, I don't think it's sufficient enough to power the Alpine type R sub. I recommend going for a monoblock to power one of those beasts.
My car audio:
CD tuner: Alpine CDA-9884E with Ipod interface
Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
thanks for that. maybe look at the alpine MRP-M350
i have an eclipse xa1000 mono. best amp i've ever owned
480w rms @ 2ohm, excellent sq
the ea4000 is a great sounding amp, but i think it would be better suited to running 4 speakers than a sub.
If you are after a 4 channel maybe check out the eclipse xa4000 or the digital designs c4a.
Eclipse are a good brand, they make some very nice gear. But as said, probably better off with a monoblock than a 4 channel.
Thanks again for everyone for there replies.
