    Default Boot corner boxes.

    Quick question.

Has anyone got or tried those boot corner mount boxes that you see for VS and VX's. I have a vx and i wanna tidy my boot up as my sub and amps are quite large.

I basically wanna know, are they ported at all or fully sealed up. Do they mount securely or rely on sub weight, and lastly do they sound any good?

    Cheers dudes

The sound will be completely dependant on the sub. Different subs need different sized boxes.

Check the reccomended specs for your sub and compare to the size of the corner mounted boxes. If they are alot smaller than your current boxes that would mean it probably wont be within reccomendations and will sound horrible.

I'd say the boxes are fully sealed also, and mounting them would be something you would have to do.

yeah ive seen the ones that seem to just clip in with some velcro back up and then rely on the sub weight to hold them down. others apparently bolt through the floor.

i'm aware the size and sub type make most of the difference, but say would a 30L wooden box have a really noticeable difference to a 30L corner mount fibreglass box.
    i guess overall quality.

i remember seeing a clubby with two 15" ones i think, which were custom made and you could hear them 100 metres away.

so really sussing out if i need a expensive one or if the ebay jobs do the trick.

A 30L box is a 30L box, the shape doesn't matter as the internal volume is the same. The ebay ones are ok, there pretty much what a car audio place would make up for you anyway. Your better of sticking with a SQ sub as they generally don't need a ported box and sound best in sealed box and don't usually need a huge box to sound nice.

Provided the box is to specs (say your sub needs a 30L box and the corner box is 30L) then it will be fine. As said, a 30L box is a 30L box. Regardless of dimensions. If they are fibreglass perhaps be wary of how thick the glass is as you wouldnt want it cracking/breaking. If you end up just getting ones held by velcro, it wouldnt be too hard to knock up some brackets for it to bolt it in tight.

As beastvs said, stick to sealed if you can. Ported boxes need to be considerably larger than a sealed box for the same sub.
