I just bought my berlina 2 days ago. I am eventually going to buy 2x12" subs, a mono block, and a 4 channel amp. I was just wondering if the speakers that came with the car (not stock) would do the job.
They are Pioneer TS-A1675 (120W)
Any thoughts or comments would be helpful
thanks
are all four speakers pioneer? or just the rears?
according to some searching, those pioneers are the really old models
but hey, if the rated output of the amp your gunna run em off is under 120watts per channel
and they sound good as is, i'd say keep em
although i would buy new splits for the front
Well so far i have only jumped into the boot and looked under the shelf where they sit, and those are the TS-A1675... but for the front ones i haven't had time to pull the doors off, but i will soon enough and get back to you.
Yeah well the bloke i bought it off didn't leave any reciepts in the book for the speakers. So im not sure how old they are. Did it say when you looked them up?
Im not the best at knowing all the car audio shortcuts n stuff so al i can say is, my step dad bought an 06 VZ and my speakers sound a bit better than his i reckon.... (noting that his speakers are stock vz ones)
everyone has a different opinion on what is good and what is crap, its up to you, you can ask someone if you think they are good, its up to yourself, and to what standard you want your stereo to be, they arnt very high powered. so if you are going to run an amp the amp might be to powerfull for the speakers, if you are going to run two 12's then i would get some speakers that you can hear over the subs.
Clarion Australia | APX1300 (mono block)
Clarion Australia | SRW1251 (12" subs)
i am wondering if this monoblock would power two of these 12" subs? As i said i dont know all that much about car audio, so if you could please explain to me a rough guide to what channels you need, what ohms, ways, bla bla bla...
any comments/thoughts will be helpful thankyou.
thanks

As they are single voice coil subs, 1 of them can only run at 4ohm. But as you want 2 of those subs it allows you the option of running them at either 2ohm or 8ohm. So you will be running them at 2ohm.
Running subs all you want is a monoblock amp however you could stray to a 2 channel if you wanted but a monoblock is much easier. They are 400wrms each so you will want an amp that is 800wrmsx1 @ 2ohm. I'd aim to within 10% or even 100wrms of that figure, the other option is a 2 channel amp which is 400wrmsx2 @2ohm (or a 4 channel amp which is 200wrmsx4@2ohm but 4 channels with that sort of power get expensive and rare).
The amp you've linked is 400wrmsx1 @ 2ohms so it will only run the subs to half their potential. But it will still run them.
For those subs, out of the Clarion range I would suggest this amp: Clarion Australia | DPX1800
It is 700wrmsx1 @2ohm which is quite a decent match. The CEA ratings give it 800wrmsx1 @ 2ohm but thats at 14.4volts (how often does your car battery push out 14.4V? Never).
The price of that amp on the net is $599 but you should get it for under $500 at most stores. On sale maybe even cheaper.
ah ok thanks for the help
