I have a Pioneer in-dash DVD player Serial: AVH-P7550 DVD.
At the moment it wont play DVDs and denies access to certain audio setting menu's while the handbrake is not engaged, due to the fact it is apparently required by law to be setup this way.
I can understand the DVD player not being able to be watched while driving, as it is dangerous, but the sound setting menu's i dont understand, as i have had other Pioneer Headunits in the past, that i have been able to access all the audio menu's, and specifically the same audio menu's that are now currently blocked by the handbrake engagement wiring.
Where would i need to relocate the wire attached to the handbrake so i am able to access the audio menu's again?
Any help would be appreciated.![]()
I think you just need to earth the hand-brake wire to the chassis so you can access your audio settings and watch movies whilst driving but I'm not 100% sure on that.
My car audio:
CD tuner: Alpine CDA-9884E with Ipod interface
Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
The light green wire on the Pioneer loom is the handbrake wire. It is wired to the handbrake so that when the handbrake is on, the wire is being ground. You should be able to work out what to do from that![]()
Thats what i thought, but i wasnt 100% sure, and i didnt want to even think about touching anything until i had a bit more info from someone that has more of an idea on what they were doing. I like to do things myself if im capable, but if not, i would prefer to ask and get it right first time, rather than try, and screw up, then cost myself an absolute fortune to repair my stupid f*ck ups.
Cheers Guys.![]()
