Default VS - Front Speaker Installation Help

I bought some Clarion 6.5 inch splits with the idea of putting them in the front of my VS commodore.
My question is - do I use the factory wiring to hook up the speakers and tweeters? Or do I put in the new wiring supplied with the speakers that has the in-line crossovers.
I decided to try my new clarion door speaker with the factory wiring. I left the factory tweeter in too. The new speaker did not sound as good as the factory speaker that I left in on the other side of the car.
Is this because i dont have my new wiring installed? Does the VS original speaker wiring have a good crossover in it? What should I do? I just don't know why is doesn't sound as good on the side that I put the new speaker in when all i did was replace the speaker and nothing else.
