    Default front door speakers

will 5 and a 1/4 inch speakers fit in front door of vx without modification?

also is it bad if you have a sub while having 6x9s?

    thank you

First up, no - 5 1/4" speakers won't fit without modification. (factory units are 6")

Secondly, it's not necessarily "bad" to run 6x9" and a sub, it's just that it's a bit redundant - the reason you would go with 6x9" would be to help with the bottom end, and if you have a sub fitted you've already well and truly taken care of that!

Just expanding on the above post...

The speakers will 'fit' but they will have nothing to mount to. As said the factory speakers are 6" in size so 5.25" speakers wont mount in the factory way but it shouldn't be too difficult to knock something up, however i'd just get some good 6" splits.

Second, 6x9's are a speaker designed for producing bass such as a sub and you will often find the bass from the 6x9 interferes with that of the sub. They are a different kind of bass, different kind of speaker and so you will get messy or even a distorted sounding bass. 6" co-axial speakers are a much better option for the rear of the car.

ok. i will not be getting a sub in that case.

with regards to the 5.25's how do i go about fitting them, do i have to buy a bracket or something?

and also just before i go, with the stock system apparently theres an amp already there? how do i uninstall it?

Are the stock tweeters splits with crossovers or just tweeters on their own?

And for the sake of it, might as well add this in as well, when im playing a cd in the stock h/u, sometimes you can hear this repetitive beeping sort of sound. Would anybody know what this could be, stuffed laser or something?

    thanks

You would need to knock something up yourself to mount them. Can I ask what speakers they are? If they're nothing special, i'd just sell them on ebay and grab some 6" speakers as it will save alot of hassle and they should be a nicer speaker.

What model VX is it? It shouldn't have an amp in the stock system.

The stock tweeters should just be tweeters on their own, no crossover.

No idea about the repetitive beeping though mate, one of the car audio experts might have an idea if they check the thread.
