Eurovox premium sound VS code problem

Hi guys,
I recently bought a VS Caprice. Lucky me!
Unfortunately the 10 stack is missing.
I am in the process of buying 1 from a fellow forumer.
But....here's the thing..... my head unit dropped the right channel 2 days ago, then, it dropped the left channel last night! No more music for me!
All the steering wheel controls work, just no output.
The bloke with the 10 stack also has a head unit, but no code! Hmmm.
I've done a thread search, all are saying "ring Eurovox".
My question is: are Eurovox able to supply the code from a serial number on the unit, or only from the vehicle vin?
I know my holden dealer has my vin & code on file, i've used them before.
But what if the vin is unknown? Is it still possable to obtain the code from another source?
I just need to know BEFORE i buy the gear.

easy way is to remove a little circit board from inside its L shaped remove that and the code becomes 1111 worked on the exec ones maybe the same for statemans
