What do you think of this HU?

hey guys, im interested in a new deck as my eclipse is ****ing me off. went down to jb and wow but none of the decks really caught my eye. had a search on the net and liked the features of this one -

Thats a nice headunit mate. Plenty of features, decent price.

However it has 6V pre-outs which could be a problem with some amps. Most headunits are 4volt.

Other concern would be how user-friendly it is.

6 volt preouts arent a problem, it should be fine. I'd consider clarion I downgrade in sq compared to eclipse however. What's wrong with your eclipse h/u?

vn2nv yer im not sure what to think about that slide track thing, and some reviews of read on other models suggest that the interface takes a bit of getting used to.

bezz, id agree the eclipse does put out a very nice note thats why i bought it (3stage x-over + 5v pre-out)just the interface annoys me - its so damn sensitive. its dual rotary command - you tweak it a small amount and you skip like 5 songs :/ also, it doesnt have usb

Yea i don't know why they made those rotary dials so sensitive, ****es me off a bit. Apart from that I can't fault my H/U tho. Perhaps check out Alpine's range of h/us as well, they would be more comparable.

yer i know exactly where you're comin from, cannot fault the deck otherwise. what model do you have? ive never dealt with clarion personally although i thought the general feeling was that they produced pretty decent components. mite just have to bite the bullet and hit up an alpine....

have had a cd5000 almost 18 months now, love it, best head unit I've ever owned.

just read that my mono amp is only recommended for 5v usage, so it rules this deck out...

KD-G-646 JVC i just installed into my VR Wagon, looks good easy to use and sounds very nice indeed and all for less than $200.00
you cant go wrong mp3/wma/usb/ipod plus a remote! and 4 rca pre outs also

that looks pretty good for the $ man, 24bit dac front usb/aux. im lookin for something with a bit more kick though
