Hello all!
I'm trying to sniff out and price a good but very cheap USB or SD capable head unit for my work car (Hyundai Getz).
The stock head unit is a pile of garbage. Hyundai's claim to be the first manufacturer to have MP3 CD players as standard across their range would be a lot more substantial if said MP3 CD players could actually play standard pressed CDs every time you put them in, and didn't skip and jump constantly. They replaced the original and it has the exact same problems, but anyway.
The only one I know of (in my limited chances to seek options out) is the Pioneer DEH-3050-UB. But surely there is a cheaper option? I'm not interested in rubbish brands, I want to get something I know is going to work and is going to continue working as long as it's in the car.
Also, I like graphic equalizers better than parametric so yeah...

Well "Cheapest" and rubbush brands sort of go hand in hand. However checkout this Ryda Car Audio - Axis AX-072 Car CD MP3 Tuner - iPod Cable($149.95)
I have 2 of these (my car + the wifes) and use the usb input all the time. It also has pre outs and sub line if you want to get serious. I must say i am very impressed for the price

Thanks! Quick question, you wouldn't happen to know if it would have trouble reading a card reader? I don't see that it particularly would have any problems, but just checking...
DSE have a Ministry of Sound pack - Ministry Of Sound - Products. Only $179 too. Though it's not listed on it's website anywhere....
Fair enough, I'm still looking at the moment anyway. There's a couple of low-end USB/SD capable Clarions that I would like to get prices for, and as the Hyundai apparently uses the Clarion chassis it might just make it easier to go that way if I can get one cheap enough.
