    Question first sound system.. help!

    hi,
ive just bought a 4 chanel amp to run my sub and two front speakers off.
i plan to run my rear speakers off the head unit.
i have the head unit installed only it only has one of the rca ports (ie 2 holes)
anyone know how i should set this up?? i am thinking i will bridge the sub over 2 ports.
i know this might be basic but i havent been able to find the answer and its stopped me from progressing.
    cheers
    mat

should've purchased a better head unit with multiple RCA out puts

but heres what you can do, you can purchase this unit called a HI to LO level converter from jaycar for around the $15 mark

    Jaycar Electronics

what this does is converts the normal spearker wire outputs from the head unit to RCA out puts

you will need to tap into the either the front or rear speaker lines from the headunit, this will then give you 2 extra RCA outputs for your 4 channel amp

OR if your 4 channel amp is fitted with an 'output' you can route the output of the amp back into the 3/4 channel RCA 'input' of the same amp

but i would recommend you do the first suggestion

Or you could just buy 1 RCA to 2 RCA Y-splitters, which would be a lot easier.....

Agreed. Yep just buy a pair of RCA splitters and voila! Your two RCA outputs will become four. Too easy.

Personally, i think sony xplode gear is CRAP. You would be better off spending a bit extra and buying something along the lines of Alpine or even Pioneer.

But if you just want something that does the job, just buy the xplode unit.

The new sony xplod head-units are surprisingly not bad. However, if you can afford the extra dosh, better to get an Alpine or Pioneer with 3 sets of RCA pre-outs. If you're on a budget, get a sony xplod or even buy a second hand Alpine unit.
