Well,
i was pulling my sound stuff out of my car the other day, and then i rewired my headunit back in, checked if it worked and its ok...
then i pushed the headunit back into the mounting area and i hear a crackle (like to live wires touchin each other) but they had tape around them.
now the head unit doesnt work, and i have tested another headunit, that also doesnt work
i have checked the fuse in the HU and under the steering column, and there is some dicky wiring system but the fuse is still ok.. and it has worked since owning the car
any ideas of what 2 do and how 2 possibly fix it would be great
cheers
There is almost certainly a blown fuse in one of the other circuits, maybe not that circuit though. I would pull each fuse one at a time and check it. Otherwise the noise could have been a wire breaking contact. You really need a multimeter. Grab one (available from just about anywhere for under $20) and by measuring 3 wires you will find which one is the problem. Even a test light will probably do if you have one. Check those fuses first though, the aftermarket head unit is probably just using power off a different circuit.
cheers mate,
just checked the fuses and was on another circut, i was worried for a second, all good now
cheers
i had a similar problem like this happen to my ford, i accidently shorted the wire that connects the headlights to the headunit, easy fix though
