hey all
mi bro and I are currently looking at a VT, which we believe has a standard H/U installed currently, so we've been looking at the DVD/GPS combination double DIN screens that eBay has to offer...
906 7" TFT LCD TOUCHSCREEN TV MONITOR FM GPS DVD PLAYER - eBay, Navigation, GPS, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 23-Jun-08 21:15:00 AEST)
7" inch Car Navigation System- GPS TV DVD Bluetooth MP3 - eBay, Navigation, GPS, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 23-Jun-08 21:30:00 AEST)
Car Navigation System - GPS DVD TV + REVERSING CAMERA - eBay Players, Audio, Video, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 23-Jun-08 19:45:00 AEST)
before i get told from lots of people, i know that the quality is more than likely not up to the Pioneer, Sony, JVC standard etc. but i have a few questions regarding them, more aimed at people who have purchased them/know someone who has...
*what is the screen quality IN COMPARISON WITH something of higher market status?
*what is the quality of GPS/Bluetooth?
*Does the radio work in Australia?
*are region coded DVD/CD's required or does it work with Australian discs?
*are the instructions easy to read and is the unit easy to operate?
again, i would prefer not to hear the negatives constantly unless you have actually purchased or used one of these units, this saves arguments now from starting.
any other points, ideas or genuine concerns i have missed, please feel free to mention them.
thanks in advance

My mate has one, it doesn't have GPS or bluetooth though. It doesn't play australian DVD's, but if you get one that plays the correct region I assume it wouldbe fine.
His screen quality was not very good, and it used to cut out sometimes but it now no longer works at all so he's going to buy a plain Pioneer cd player.
I also have a mate who purchased a cheapo off egay. All i'll say is, it's a much better option to spend $1000+ on a decent motorised screen DVD player from JB etc.
Don't waste your cash on the cheapo junk. You get what you pay for.
I have one atmo in my VS, although it is a single DIN unit by Eonon. Picked it up for $260.
It plays all the DVD discs i have at home and it's pretty good picture quality wish i could say the same for the sound.
T.V is dead set crap, i get good sound but but i can barely make out the picture.
Radio is good quality picks up all the mojor stations in your city.
The instructions are in english but it has a few punctuation mistakes but youll get the idea.
Its pretty straight forward to operate

The missus has the 2nd unit and it was a waste of money. Just spend an extra 1k and get a quality unit that you can actually see during the day
*what is the screen quality IN COMPARISON WITH something of higher market status?
the screen is shocking during the day, can't see anything.
*what is the quality of GPS/Bluetooth?
GPS didn't even work, sent back the antenna and never received anything back.
Bluetooth works once in a while but for some reason the mic doesn't work now
*Does the radio work in Australia?
Radio works but reception could be better. With the old headunit the radio worked perfectly so its not the antenna.
*are region coded DVD/CD's required or does it work with Australian discs?
Its region free so pretty much any dvd will work
*are the instructions easy to read and is the unit easy to operate?
Cheapo unit with crappy instructions. trial and error is probably the only way to learn how to use it. Shes got the older model of the one in the link so the menu is butt ugly as well, atleast they tried to make it look pretty now
So pretty much save for an alpine unit or if you've got spare time, make a carpc and have all that plus solitare lol
I just fitted a Eonon E838 head unit last week. It took only 3 days to arrive from Hong Kong. I am definitely very happy with it. My old CD player was an alpine and this unit has equal sound quality although it doesn't have a bass engine like the alpine. The are no dead pixels at all and it has a bluetooth phone function built in to it where with more well know brands you would be paying a few hundred just for the bluetooth. Overall I am very happy with it considering a more well know brand would have cost about 5 times as much. Not really justifiable in my opinion. Maybe if I was a millionaire I would get a more well know brand. Also goes to show how overpriced the other bands are. There is a video of the 838 on youtube if you want to know exactly what im talking about.
ok thanks for all ur help so far guys, any1 else pls post opinions and comments if you have something to say
Cheers All
