Hi guys, i've just thought of a new project for the VS.
I know that this is pointless in a daily, but i think it sould be some fun.
My idea is a carputer (yes, i know it's been done) but i want it to be more invasive and more features.
Ideas this far:
Install a basic box with Windows Media Center edition, with shutdown control and engine crank survival, this box should have 5.1 surround output, and be able to run without an inverter, just a mini power supply.

Install four channel amp for the splits. and another for the sub (just one).
No head unit, unless i can find one that will take an input of 5.1.. and a center if i can be bothered.

Install a GPS reciever, and WiFi card, and maybe an optus wireless internet card. and also a USB OBD connecter for real time car diagnositcs.

TV tuner, and Zenarc touch LCD/TFT. And a small slot load USB DVD/CD drive up front.
And possibly a PS2.

The beauty of Windows Media Center is that it can store all you're pictures, music, videos and can utilise a TV tuner card, as well as internet radio, wether and Internet TV.

The main things i think i'm going to have trouble with is the sound (not to sure if i can wire direct from computer to amp. and also poweeing the unit.

I know this all seems out there and expensive, but i love the idea, and i'll keep updated on the progress.

Matt.
