Will HU's bought in the US work in AUS
Will a headunit bought in the us work in a car in aus. Obviously the cd and
mp3 will work, but im not 2 sure about the radio. Are the frequencies different? This is what i'm looking at buying.
Pioneer USA - CD Receivers
it is soo much cheaper over in the us even when u take postage into account.

Yes, american headunits are capable of the same frequencies here in Aus.

The AM frequencies will probably be off. The US use 10kHz increments while Australia uses 9kHz increments. The Australian versions allow you to select 9 or 10kHz, but usually the US models only allow 10kHz, so some frequencies nearly match up while others are totally off.
Make sure you get a pro to install it because if you stuff it up, you have no warranty.

Too bad the overseas AVIC units won't work over here
The AVH-P6000DVD is region 1, so you'd have to rip all your region 4 DVD's to be able to play them.

Nah, only the Asian version will have our region for DVD. So you can get them from China, Thailand, or wherever else is sellign them on eBay but you won't have any warranty.
Only Australian AVIC units will work with the Australian maps.
