VL-VT head unit plugs

im just curious as to whether the aftermarket VT plugs ive seen in supercheap/autobarn and the like can be used in my VL, when i put a cd player in. im not too keen on doing a bodge job that i will have to pull apart later on when the dash catches fire. any help will be greatly appreciated
