The LEDs that Hozy linked to will work but there is some serious skill and tools required to mount these in properly. Also consider you may cause irreversible damage to the dash if you make a mistake. This is definetly something I would leave to a pro.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

nah 2000mcd is fine. If you're changing colours you will need to change resistors as the forward voltage of the new leds will be different. Soldering surface mount isnt too hard, just need to take your time and keep a steady hand. Be sure to read some tutorials on the proper procedure however. Also there are a few instructional videos on youtube that might come in handy.

As for tools you need a decent soldering station, some tweezers to hold the LED in place, solder of course, desoldering wick, flux pen, power supply for testing... i've probably forgotten something!

depends on the specs of the new leds compared to the old. No idea on who would do it for ya though I'm afraid..

ahh this is a description for a conversion on a VX...after the VX they used SMD LED's on the VY's...makes things alot harder...althought i think they only used them in the cluster...and the headunit...but i have an aftermarket headunit so only the cluster that i am worryed about...

1.what i suggest you do is to remove your dash cluster, and mail it to phreddy. He'll modify it and send it back. Can i suggest you ask if he can make the needles change colour as they increase If u cant remove it urself(i know i wouldnt even try) get someone who can.

2.i dont think phreddys email address is ever checked, as i think asr as a full time business is no more. he does the same work on weekends now. however i know he always replies to pm's within a week.

3.Phreddy told me that some led packs arent all the same exact colour and brightness, he buys his from england so they are consistant. Ebay ones MAY not be consistant

4.Automotive electronic technicians may say yes, but its not hard to F the cluster up. I've seen how delicate the process is. and unless they are proficiant in modifying clusters, and will put $400 on the table incase things go bad, I'd stick to getting Phreddy to do it.
