Default ok... can someone help me out?

ok ive been reading through all these threads but have found nothing useful, i know nothing about car audio.

i own a vt with stock sound system, just a tape player.

i bought a sony explod head unit ages ago, a gt250s , it was cheap so its probably not that good.

ok i need to know what to buy.

i dont think i will get a sub, as i dont listen to to much techno, and massive beats, or do subs just enhance the sound no matter what music is playing?

i listen to punk, and metal, some hip hop, stuff like that. not much doof doof.

i am going to buy new speakers, as the stocks are stuffed.

i read that splits are better cos u can put the tweeters wherever u want..

sooo... i should buy 2 good 6" splits for the front [any ideas on brand and stuff?]

and just average rear speakers as i dont venture into the back of my ride lol

or do i even need to worry about rear speakers at all?

and do i need to run the speakers through an amp to get the full potential?

overall, i just want a decent sound system for not much money hahaha..

    thanks.

You can't listen to metal without a sub You know the guy in the band that hits the big things with pig skin on them? (The drummer) 6x9's can't reproduce the sound of those drums, you need a bigger speaker like a subwoofer to hear the full range of sounds.

The best value way to go would be a cheap set of splits for the front (or good coaxials - coaxials are like the 2-way. 3-way. etc) a single 12" sub and box, and a 4 channel amp to run the front speakers from 2 channels and the other 2 channels bridged to the sub.

How much do you want to spend? It's best to go listen to brands in your price range rather than listen to what people recommend on the internet
