Default Installing Rear Speakers in my VP

guyz i am new with commodores and just got a hand of a manual VP. the car has no hole on the parcel shelf to install speakers. I was wondering if is possible to make a hole there? If that possible, i kind of struggled to pull the parcel shelf out so could anyone give me hints of how to pull it out to make holes for the speakers. To add a complication the car is on gas and the gas tank is underneath the parcel shelf. Does it matter in the process of taking the parcel shelf out?

Really? there is holes in the metal? if there isn't any holes in there then I strongly advise AGAINST the cutting of the metal.... Throw some spacers on top and call it quits man...
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

There should be holes in the Metal. I think he's talking about the shelf itself.

The wood is fine to cut, but its very fragile, so be careful with it.

As said, if theres no holes in the metal, DONT cut it, you'll just have to get spacers.

A suggestion is to cut a ring of wood and stick it inbetween the parcel shelf and metal brace, screw the speakers down into the wood and lock it on the metal...

The idea is weird but sounds so weird it might work :S

guys I was not intending to cut anything until i am able to put the self out of the car to have a look what i can do about the situation. I am struggling to pull the shelf out. After pulling the shelf out if there is wood, ill cut a decent size hole on the wood to fit the speakers otherwise ill use spacers(what are they?) Sorry guyz i am kinda new to this. Just started to learn about it!! If anyone can, can you please kind of guide me step by step how to work it? thanks.

Not sure about your car, but my international i had to remove the back seats (back part) to get the shelf out, because the headrests were in the way.

Pretty sure they all had the cutout in the metal, and its only the wood thats different model to model.

Spacers are exactly what they say, a piece of plastic (or you can get moulded wood ones with vinyl over the top) that give somewhere for the magnet of the speaker to be.

    Yeah mate, or Autobahn.

Not sure about different models, but mine has the 3 piece seats, and only the middle is bolted. They should just pull out, have a look in the howto section, there might be something in there to help you out.
