Stock Head unit adapter?

Hey guys, for days and days iv'e been trying to figure out what i'm going to do with my sound system in the VZ, and i have to ask this question...

I was thinking of buying a second amp and running my system off that (pair of 6" kicker splits, pair of pioneer 6x9's and 12" kicker sub) plus the amp i already have...my question is, is there some sort of adapter i can get which allows the system running off the amps to connect directly with the stock head unit, so everything works just like the completely stock sound system, except sounding better?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but i have searched and came up empty.

If this is possible/been done whats the sound like etc?

oh! sorry, i was fully aware of phreddy's mod, but didn't know that WAS the way.

There's also another way, which is cheaper and a little more dodgy - you can buy a high-to-low level convertor which converts your head unit's speaker outputs to RCA signals, which you can then use as amp inputs. The quality is probably not quite as good, but it works fine and has been done many times.
