Question How is your sub box secured?

Mine aren't, they float around the boot. The one in the VN is pretty mobile, at least.... the double box in my VR is strapped down using the factory cargo net Trouble is, under certain conditions my subs managed to rub on the cargo net up the top.. no damage butyou can see they've been contacting something (marks on the surround of the subs themselves)

    Looking for ideas...

    1.5" wood screws
    Velcro
Metal brackets (typically back strap) using self tappers for the boot floor and 3/4" screws for the box
Wedge fit (My favourite) My box is not mounted at all but it's pushed in between the strut towers and hasn't moved an inch.

mine isn't big enough to jam between the towers..

    Wood screws = fail

Last owner had something screwed to the boot floor and I found the screw sticking an inch into the fuel tank

lol, you do need to be smart when using the wood screws but I've seen it done so many times and it seems to work ok. I usually don't use them but I've done it a handful of times.

OK mate, I'll look into it

Positive to the cargo net is that it's easy enough to get the box out for burnout comps

I've got two strips of Velcro on the bottom of my Sub box and It doesn't move a mm and I've taken some tight corners. Only annoying thing is ... when you gotta move it around ... it pulls the whole carpet up and its hard trying to get both sides up at the same time!

i've got mine in real tight using sheet metal screws through the backs of the rear seats into the box. You have to take the rear seats out to get to the screws to take the box out which is a bit of a pain but i dont really take it out so its not an issue. Its solid as.

lol u can tell u been livin in america 4 2 long

Sam depends on wat u wanna do with the sub do u wanna b able 2 remove it easlily enough so u can take it out 4 burnout comps? or do u want it fastened down perminetatly?

Ive got my subs in the VP secured down tempory using seat belt strapping. basically the straps go around the subs and both ends of the seat belt meet together and r clamped together using the fold down seat latch, so if u eva wanted 2 take them out u just undo 2 bolts securing that latch. U could even use some latches bolted 2 the sub and the floor 2 secure it.

If ya want the box secured 4 good do a boot fit out the VN/VP boots so easy 2 work with and u can do the wedge fit "." was talkin bout. Where about is ur sub exactly on the rise on the boot floor or in front of that?

My sub box is way down near the rear of the car, probably just rearward of the centre of the boot. So not on the rise.. although I think it might fit up there... not entirely sure.

Yes I need to be able to take it out for comp work

So how does the velcro idea work.. does it hold to the boot carpet itself or do you need both sides to be velcro?

just use a couple of 90 degree angle braces and screw it into the sub box and then into either the top of the boot or the floor, of course missing the spare tire or wat not....like i didnt ahaha

Yeah I do need to drop the tank - that's not a bad idea. Still thinking velcro sounds good though... I'll have another look at the box setup and see if anything springs to mind

The box in my VR sits on the lip at the back of the boot. To secure it I made a bracket out of aluminium (available from bunnings). I simply put screws through existing holes behind the rear seats. It means I didnt have to drill any holes in the car and the brackets hold it rock solid.
