    Default remote wire

ok i'm an audio noob and the amp remote wire has me confused.

    1. it goes to the head unit or any accessory wire and only turns the amp on when the head unit or accessory comes on?

    2. if thats the case do i still need the main power wire going to the battery?

    1. It goes to remote wire on the head unit, or any 12v accessories source. But preferably head unit so the amp will turn on whenever the head unit is on.

    2. Yes you still need the main power wire. the remote wire only triggers the amp to turn on. The remote wire isnt capable of carrying the current required to power the amp or the head unit to supply it.

    No prob.

The kit diddnt have a remote wire? Odd. Usually a thin-ish blue wire. Seeing it carrys little current, anything as thin as speaker wire should do the trick.

Edit: StoneX beat me to it.

Off topic...sort of. I put a Clarion Mono block into my girls rig the other day and aside from 0ga power terminals I got a great laugh when I saw that the remote wire terminal was set-up to take 4ga......gave me quite a chuckle other then it was a bitch to actually make the 16ga fit inside the hole and no that it won't come out!
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
