whats the best amp to power a 12 inch alpine type r sub? specs are 500 rms 1500 peak
what voice coil config?
what would the rms be off a 12" alpine type-s sub, single voice coil? going to be useing a pioneer amp to run it (bridged), the amps a 4x 600 watt amp.
might need a mono block amp for the type-r sub, i know alpine have some good amps for these obviously being alpine, and apparently clarion amps are very good too. a bit cheaper and just as good from what iv been told.
New model Alpine Type S are only 300wrms. But they are all dual voice coil, so if yours is single it must be a few models old so may be even lower.
Why are you using a 4 channel amp to run a single voice coil sub? Also, that 4x600 is peak watts which tells us nothing. We need the RMS power of the amp. But a 4 channel amp is not really suitable for running 1 sub. Get a 2 channel amp or a mono.
look at a response 2x150 watt RMS to power the alpine Type R sub. if the type R you're looking at is 2+2 ohms, the 2 channel response amp would be perfect!
My car audio:
CD tuner: Alpine CDA-9884E with Ipod interface
Front speakers: Alpine Type R SPR-17S 6.5 component speakers, powered by a avant-garde 23dxi 2 channel amplifier - 2x51 watt RMS
Rear speakers: pioneer coaxials connected to tuner
Subwoofer: Alpine Type R SWR-1222D 12" 2 ohm dual voice coil 500 watts RMS powered by a response precision 2x150 watts RMS 2 channel amp bridged to 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms
Hey,
I just sold my Type R. I brought my gear from Alberts. The 12" type R came in the alpine box and a matching amp. The amp was a Mono block V12 amp (MRD-M605). That's what they recommend you run it with.
The Type R is a decent sub. was quite happy with it for awhile. Just ordered a new sub... rated 2400rmscan't wait.
The V12 model is discontinued from what I hear. But you could just ring alberts or something and ask them.
Deck: Alpine 9887
Speakers: Hertz HSK165 XL
Amps: Audison SRx2, SRx4 & Alpine M350
Subs: 2x Alpine 10" Type S
oh yeah and another thing are subs better facing in towards the car or facing out?
so it doesnt make a sound difference facing inwards?
Its more that it there is no set better or worse depending on what way it faces. It just depends on which you prefer yourself. Everyone has a different opinion.
Bass is non directional to an extent so it won't make a huge difference. Alot of people turn it and have them face in through the ski port, which I did with my pioneers. Definitely improved in cabin bass.
