    Default engine whine

    Hey guys,

What are the reasons why engine whine could occur in a single speaker??

I'm running my RCA's and speaker wire down the passenger side and power down the drivers

Nothing in the boot is clashing.

Yet my front left speaker has engine whine.

    Any ideas?

swap the RCAs into the amp. this will assist to determine if its after or before the amp.

Yeah thats right, increases as i increase rev (very annoying)

Poor grounding on what? the amp? loose wire on the speaker?

Only thing i don't understand why it would be only on 1 speaker..

You'd think it would be on the front channel (so both front speakers)

Alright I'll give it a go

I'll and ground it somewhere else, at the moment its grounded under the rear passenger seat, maybe someone has knocked it out of wack very possible.

    Thanks

I suspect a problem with the rca lead going to that channel of the amp. did you swap them over as suggested?

I tried swapping the RCA's out, just got some spares and ran them straight down the middle. no success. I re-earthed the amp. still nothing.

I've been told JBL amps are known to do this...

I have noticed that it's not distortion and its just ALOT of engine whine coming out of the rear left speaker. So it's the entire left side of my car

So you also changed over the leads to the speakers? and the noise is still in the left speaker, or does the noise change over to the right speaker, indicating that the same channel of the amp is somehow affected. If the latter, definitely a problem with your amp.

So i've still got engine whine after getting my amp back.

Question i should of asked before, Is there enough current going through the REMOTE cable to cause engine whine?

If not i'm suspecting a faulty Hi-Low converter.

ive have noticed on occasions that the location of the crossover can cause static in one speaker dpending on where its located. Try moving the crossover and see if that removes the static.
