Default 2005 VZ Executive Stereo Questions

Hi guys i'm looking to install a new stereo in my VZ just have a few queries i hope you might be able to help with.

I'm planning on getting a Sony Head Unit MEXBT2600. i already have an amp and sub the amp is a Blaupunkt Velocity 800W 4 ch and the sub is a Kenwood 12" 800W.

    1. Now the head unit is a Single din and i have seen aftermarket cradles around just nned to know if they are any good and any mounting issues if possible.

    2. The antenna is electric and i still want it to function the same i.e it only goes up when the radio is on and retracts whenthe radio is off. what will be required to keep this function do i have to work in a switch of some kind ect.

    3. will the radio staying on till i open the drivers side door still work with aftermarket head units? and will it light up like the stock unit does when i unlock the doors ect.

4 Suggested Amp mounting solutions and suggested places to mount without drilling the crap out of my boot.

5 Suggested ways to run the wiring.

I'm sure i'll have other questions later thanks in advance for your help.

no errors on the dash, unless some thing is something has been stuffed up

1, yes the cradles work good, ive found you need to slightly round the lugs that hold it in with a file so it makes it easier to remove if needed

2, if the head unit has a antenna output, use that, if not, use the 12volt out switching wire for the amp, and as you said you will need to wire in a switch so they antenna will go down when a cd is playing

3, yes, it will light up if the h/u has an illumination circuit

4, inverted under the parcel shelf

5, use a bare euro plug and solder that to the harness that comes with new h/u, so you dont have to cut the factory wiring, you can re-install the factory unit then if needed, if you use the euro plug check the wire pinouts are correct, the accessories and constant where around the wrong way in mine. the plug pinouts picture is stuck to the top of the factory h/u

run power under one of the sill covers, and run the rca's down the other.

oh and good to see another Barbados vz on here

The plastic cover on the doorway... Where the sill is... The plastic between where the carpet meets the door.

    Hope that makes sense.
