    Default New system

Today i picked up a Cadence Q4000 4CH amp and two JL Audio 10" subbies in a ported, netsound box. all for $300 (mates rates)

Now, i've been running a ****ty 12" US Audio sub off of a 300watt cash converters amp.

I hooked the new system up today, and played a few beats, and to my dissapointment, i'm not getting as uch bass as i had hoped.
I'm only getting a little more then i did with the US Audio, and even then, this is only high bass, not deep bass (which is what i'm after)

And also, i only have two subby RCA leads coming from my alpine headunit, theres no more pre outs on the back of the HU,
I've bridged the subs and i needed 4 preouts, so i just double adapted them, is this okay to do?

Seems fine to do that but your running 2 10" subs, they will be very clear but not much bass. have you fiddled around with the amp tuning? Try setting the freq low and the gain up a bit.

But yeah, if you wanted deep bass should of gone for atleast 12" or 15"

Adding to what Timmos said above....

The box, what size/length are the ports.....also if you give me the dimensions of the box and wood thickness and i'll let you know what its tuned to, or somebody else who gets the time before me.

Usually a pre-fab ported box will be OK for 99% of music, but if you play more rap or drum and bass etc that has low bass you may wanna look at a different port tuning.

2 x 10s should play as low as a 12, definately if the 12 was in a sealed box.

    Ello.
Yeh, a mate told me that because their only 10s they arn't really good for deep bass.
might eventually get a 15" for deep sh1t.
I turned the box around so the ports are facing the rear of the boot, and i get quite a bit more deep end bass, but not as much as i was hoping for...
Also, becuase their both sealed in box, as in, the actual speaker is completly in the box, would it be better to reverse the polatiry on one of the subs, because i was thinking that when the cone moves inwards on both subs at the same time, wouldn't they build up too much pressure in box to work efficiantly??

It's kind of hard to explain what sort of box i have, basically i have a perspex window on the box and the cones of the subs are enclosed in there, and then on the magnet side of the sub is the chamber and the ports...

Ahh, you have a bandpass box......those types of boxes are good for a tight band a frequencies, in other words they sound excellent in a shop and some cars...but not all.

Once again, 10s can play as low as a 15 if they are in the right box. Maybe not as loud as a 15 but good 10s (DD, Atomic etc) will often out do alot of 15s on the market.

You could try changing the polarity on one of the subs, but i doubt it'll make too much of a difference.
