    Default extra wires

hey guys, i recently got myself a vr commodore, and have bought a new head unit for it since the old one was cactus!

i have spent a few hours on it and putting cables together but from the car i have two spare wires which i dont know what to do with, the deck is turning on and functioning but im getting no sound out of the speakers.

ive looked through all the wiring posts i could find and there was no black/white wire! is my car a freak?

the cables i have left from the car are a black/white one
and a brown and white one which is illumination but im not sure where im supposed to put it.

from the actual head unit there is a blue/white wire with a plastic clip at the end.

ive uploaded pics so u guys can see what im talking about. i hope this is enough info for a good explanation why im getting no sound, and what do to with these spare wires.

also where is a good place to connect my earth cable from the unit, its like a U shape, so im guessing it can go behind a screw or something any ideas will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

From memory, the illumination wire doesn't need to be connected. The lights on the new headunit will just be on all the time.
The blue wire on the back of the new unit is the remote wire for connecting amps etc. This isn't used if you aren't running an amp.
Black and White wire...is that the earth? I used the factory earth for my CD player, or there should be a screw you can attach it to down the passenger side of the console I believe.

As far as the no sound problem, are you testing the headunit as shown in those pics? At least wrap some tape around the connections if you don't want to solder them until you are sure they will work. Looks like the speaker wires are probably shorting.
Apart from that, someone else can probably post up some more ideas
If you need I'll take a pic of the wiring for my CD player tomorrow since it's already out

tape up the illumination wire at least, if it shorts, it will probably blow the fuse, leaving you with no dash lights and such, and it will only take a second to tape up

if you gont earth the black wire from cd player youll be getting earth from your antena socket so earth ya black wire youll be fine
just make sure no spkr wires are grounded or youll get lights but no sound
