hey guys just looking for a new idea for mounting a ps2
I have badly mounted mine at the moment on the kickpanel but im looking at designing an AV shelf to sit inplace of the glovebox
I tried google to no avail but looking at making a 2 shelf unit to sit in place of the glovebox to hold didital tv tuner and ps2 slim as well as a 500w inverter
has anyone made anything like this anyone got any pics / ideas ?
Where have you got the screen mounted? Front or rear?
front indash foldout 7" sony ... might upgrade to headrest screens as well soon not sure yet ... im thinking its just wank value more than actual practical use for the rear screens tho so it is not a high priority
Hmm.. if it was in the read I'd say try mounting in the rear centre armrest, but if it's in the front the places I'd look at are a shelf like you say (or just in the glovebox, cleverly attached somehow) or perhaps under the passenger seat? You'd just want to make sure it doesn't get kicked or damaged.
yeah I had it in the glovebox but it looks tacky and vibrates alot, ive made a cardboard mockup of the shelf ill proberbly make on the weekend I will post pics when done
hey mate just wondering does the ps2 connect easy??? and how is it being powered does the deck have av cables and i hope u understand wat im on about hahah

Is there a way to put it where the passenger airbag would go? (assuming you don't have one)
it has a passenger airbag so that sucks ...
its pretty simple to wire in, ill post a pic of how I have done it

im pretty sure you could power the ps2 without an inverter as you change 12v dc to 240v ac then the sony power pack drops its back to 8vdc you would just have to work out current and resistor settings to drop 12-14v dc down to 8v .. not sure how many amps I will have to check ... I thought it would be cooler to just have an inverter though lol
haha thanks for that very detailed very keen on doing this myself now hahaha how much is an inverter is that the easiest way
I got the inverter on special at dick smith for about 90 bucks I think.... a 200-300w would be more than enough for a ps2 alone though so you should be able to save yourself some cash, its proberbly the cleanest way to do it ... and you have the upside of using the inverter for other stuff if you need to
yeah okay kool thanks for that hehe now im getting a ps2 haha with the vy it will fit nice and snug in the glove boxi hope lol
were did u put the inverter
there is a spot in the vs when you remove the glovebox behind there thats where it sits currently but after this weekend it will be sitting on a custom shelf inplace of the glovebox
ahhh kk post up some picssounds good i like your idea now im doing it hahahah
yep will post some sunday night if I can figure out how to mount it all up and make it look good lol
glad you have it sorted!

i already tried mine on the roof lol its a huge fail, not quite small enough to get under the stereo without cutting metal, centre console was no good because of elec window controls, dash was out because of airbags, only half hidden place left for me was the glovebox area, I guess you have alot more options if it is designed to be played from the rear of the car but mines not .. I will be interested in seeing how you do it :P good luck!
You could always just glue a PSP to your dash![]()
