um not really depends on the headunit, most have a BLUE wire output for electric antenna and/or amps, if your headunit does not have this then the ACC wire input is the next best thing,

only thing is your amps will run even when your stereo is off if the car (yellow wire) is on.

If it dosent turn on using the power antenna wire it could be because of a number of things.

The next best step as rcnugget said is to splice into the red wire coming from your head-unit...this is the accessories wire and will turn the amp on when the head-unit turns on with the key. Dont put it on the yellow wire as this is constant power and the amp will be on 24/7.

The wire you need to tap into is the yellow wire on the other (dash) side of the standard plug (not the side your stereo plugs into) if that makes sense.

To put in other words, the plug that comes out of your stereo (JVC) plugs into the standard plug....on the other side of this plug is the yellow cable.

    Now im confusing myself lol.

lol its all good dude. i ended up using the original wiring that came with the headunit (which had the remote wire on it) and i spliced it into the harness. just have to wait for the battery to charge to see if its all good.

    cheers for the advice guys.

just a note you shouldnt really use the power antenna wire as the remote wire cause the antenna signal only comes on when the radio is on, and i think in some cases the remote wire is blue with a white trace

Only some head-units turn off the power antenna when not listening to radio.

Nearly all head-units have a remote wire, but i didnt wanna confuse him and using the acc wire is just as good. The only main difference is when you turn the head-unit off when driving etc the amp/s dont turn off.

apart from amplifying any noise they pickup on the RCA's lol I get huge static noise thru my speakers when the HU is turned off, soon as i turn it on even at zero volume the noise goes away ... never figured out why

plus normally if you use the antenna wire makes the sub and other speakers thump when you turn the stereo on from it turning straight on most remote wires for amps power up slower stopping the thump

ok your aftermarket headunit in your vs will have a blue/white wire which is your remote wire. this wire like delcowizzid says has a delay which prevents turn on/off pop. because you have connected your amplifiers remote input to the accessory i.e the yellow wire coming from the factory radio loom, when you turn off the HU the amplifiers stay on but the rcas stop outputting signal. The rca outut also has a noise filter on it but only when turned on. So that is the reason you are getting static when its turned off.
