So i just bought a 2nd hand 2001 VX commodore executive this weekend, standard stereo system, and when ever i try to play a cd i get a message on the display saying "Er 4". Just wondering if this is a common problem or if theres anything cheap i can do to get it fixed. It happens with burnt and legit cd's.
theres a fault with the cd that could be either mechanical or laser related. depending on who you take it to will depend on how much it will cost to fix. it could be cheaper to fit a new base model unit with pocket, around about 180 to 200.
The standard system won tplay any burnt CDs, at all. I would imagine as stated by luke0011 that the unit has some type of cd mechanism problem.
You could take it to holden and get them to send it away etc, or just purchase a new aftermarket unit with a pocket to go underneath, this should cost around the $200 mark and depending on what unit you go for you'll be able to play MP3s etc. Plus the added power you'll get from the new head-unit means it'll sound better.
Well, the thing i left out was i have my head unit from my old car. Old Head Unit I was hoping to put that in, but it would leave a huge gap underneath it. Can you by the panels to cover it up retail?
yeah, as stated by holdenboy, you can buy a pocket/fascia for a commodore VX so you can fit a single din headunit![]()
