hello to all,
i have currently have a Sony CDX F5500 head unit installed in my VN, i am getting another Sony head Unit a newer one a CDX GT570.
Just wondering if i will have to change wires on install new ones for this particular head unit.
atm i am running 2 kenwoods 6 x 9's in the back, pretty sure fronts one's are stock. Also am running a Clarion amp and sub, which has just been installed last weekend.
I know how everything goes in and out behind, but not quite sure if ill have to change any wires around or re-wire it from the speakers.
All help is much appreciated.
cheers, patrick![]()
You may be lucky and find that sony have used the same connector on the back of both units, so that you can simply disconnect the old and connect the new. Unfortunatly finding out if they are the same connector isnt always easy to do, so you normally have to just check yours out and see. If not you will need to do a little bit of work, nothing major though.
Im fairly sure it will be the same plug, as kopper69 said just pull out the old one and see if it is the same, chances are if it plugs straight into the new one...all is good. I dont have too much experience with Sony H/Us sorry.
lol, the guys are right, it should be plug and play but check out the wiring colors first, if they match up, then check to see if it fits.
Eclipse decks have two different styles and will fit in either one, but plug the black connetor into a deck with the clear connector....results in the sudden unexpected release of pixie dust.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
Well thats silly, why make a new plug the same size/shape then change the wiring around?
thanks for all the help. I'm hoping that it is just pull out and plug in, straight forward.
cheers much appreciated
cheers,
the wiring for the head unit is pretty stuffed up cos the guy i bought it from, i think had his dad install the head unit and speakers so i might have to change the wiring around or if it really bad might just re-wire whole system again.
