....engine noise coming from your speakers? or through the holes around where you mounted them? :S

its probably your ground mate, clean the ground from paint and try it.
if its still there try a better ground spot

did you use the back seat bolt for your ground by any chance?

Engine Whine - i hate the crap!!

Could be a number of things, check all cabling... make sure you havn't crossed any power with signal.

    Swap out the rca leads

reground everything - make sure you scratch the paint away to make sure its a solid connection.

if you have a spare known working amp, try and swap it with that - possibly your amp is faulty.

Check the grounding on your HU

Good luck - took me 3 weeks working on mine before i found it

I'd also suggest not running the power, ground and signal cables together, the electromagnetic fields generated are not fully contained in the insulation of the cable. Try run the signal cables seperately. Alternatively you can implement a filter just before the amp to filter the noise.

haha that ****in ****s me to no end aye...
yea as cartoonwally said...! if you can, run your signal wires down one side of the car and you power cables down the other side... also try getting some higher quallity cables... Zero gauge power cables and higher quallity speaker wires..

0awg wont make any difference to interference, HQ RCAs with double shielding helps, but as stated above.....run your power and RCAs down opposite sides and keep them away from each other as much as possible at the amp. Also if you havent already done so make sure youve got a good earth for the amp, 80% of noise issues like this are caused by bad earths. Dont earth it to the metal behind the seats or the underside of the parcel shelf, a good place is where the rear seatbelts are bolted down. You will want to sand back to bare metal the area the earth terminal with be going onto.

Hopefully we've sorted out this problem for you, let us know if these things are done and whether it made a difference.

Edit; So the system didnt change except for the head-unit, the amp/wiring was in place and hasnt been changed? if so who installed the new unit?

pioneer units dont like having rcas unplugged while on. this can cause a resistor to blow and cause static or engine noise. as you said that all you did was replace the unit, then its safe to assume that the problem lies in the unit. Send it off for repair, about 100 dollars to fix the problem
