I was thinking for my VS that instead of going the usual boot install setup, i want to build a custom parcel shelf with my 2 kicker 6x9,s and possibly squeeze two 10" woofers up there!! If i cant get the 2 in there i know i can @ least get 1!! the reason being, is that i have had decent subs in the boot before, but the sub boxes can get really heavy and take up a lot of space ect so i was trying to get a decent setup happening in the car wich gave me plenty of bass without comprimising on weight, space ect! Will be good 2 see how it turns out when i get round 2 it!!

hrm would be interesting to see, I have never had any success with mouting subs up high will be interesting to see how you go with it
2 be honest i was very supprised with the performance of the 2 kicker 6x9,s i have in there @ present (vibrates the rear vision mirror lol) but i think the extra 10" will really bring the bass up nicely!! I had 2 fusion powerplants in the boot of my calais and while they pumped nicely they where having a hard time getting through the extra sound deadening the car had ect, if i can get one of the powerplant 12" up there would be sweet! But i think a 10 should do nicely![]()

I take it you have an amp running the 6x9s?
Also you will get a little more bass from mounting a 10" sub in the parcel shelf, but the main reason why it wont produce alot more bass is the fact you wont have a proper enclosure for it, unless you wanna go to the trouble of fibreglassing an enclosure under the parcel shelf for it. There are "free air" subs that are designed for this type of installation, maybe thats an option too.

Two problems that you may encounter though. One is that the sub will cause vibration that will be way to annoying and you won't be able to stop. A friend of mind has a 10" free sub in his A.U XR8 which came out with a 8" from the factory. And he made up a template to mount his 10", so he didn't cut into his parcel shelf. And he found that it created way more unwanted vibration, then his 8" did.
And the other problem you may find is, is that may have problems with your next rego check, as you will decrease the strength of the body, of the car!
My new ride with some upgrades.
