Hi all,
I've currently got a Pioneer cd tuner in the Berlina, and I'm looking to swap it for another head unit.
I'm replacing a 45x4 Pioneer cd tuner that came with the car, with a Kenwood 50x4 CD/MP3 tuner out of my old car. I know what I'm doing for the most part, the one thing I would like to know though, is do Pioneer use any particular 'tools' ie. metal cut shapes to remove their headunits? I know Kenwood use metal tabs to unlatch the headunit from the sides, do Pioneer use a similar thing?
One other thing, I've got a pair of Kenwood KFC-1661S 6.5" speakers to put in the parcel shelf to replace the standard ones. Are the originals 6/6.5" speakers, or are they another size? It's a '96 VSII Berlina.
Thanks.
The head-unit should be mounted using the stock radio brackets, and you'll be able to transfer units without any special tools.
The speakers will replace the stock versions with no problems, they are a 6" speaker, so it may be a little tight fitting 6.5s, but still they should fit.
Thanks Holdenboy, much appreciated
To fit 6.5's in the VS you will need to extensivly modify the VS pods.

Parcelshelf speakers. Not door pods. Thanks though
Some 6.5s fit in the door pods (although no relevant here), depends on which brand you install.
A six and a half inch speaker has to have the door pod ridges grinded out in a half circle to fit in and have the mounting diameter widened.
