Unhappy Electric Antenna Doesn't Extend/Retract With Radio

Hi, I just removed a broken electric antenna from a VP Vacationer I bought and replaced it with a working one. The problem is it wont extend or retract when the radio is turned on/off, it remains down. On a kind-of-good note it extends when i hold the extend ant. button on the cruise control unit but as soon as i let it go it retracts itself, hmmm. PLEASE HELP ME.

    Thx Les...

depends what kind of headunit your running, if it is aftermarket you will have a blue wire output that needs to be hooked into the antenna circuit,

im not 100% sure with the factory unit but im sure it is something similar

Yeah, it's an aftermarket JVC MP3 CD Head Unit. The antenna has a red and white cable as well as a black one that runs into itself a ground cable that screws to the side of the car and a coax cable.

Also, any ideas why it wont stay up when i let go of the extend button on the cruise control panel?

    Thx Again Les...

Was the antenna you replaced from another VP?

    Sounds like a wiring problem.

This happened to my grandfathers stock Vacationer VP. I havn't been able to check it out for him yet, but it seems to either be a loose connection at the rear of the unit or the power antenna itself (or a broken resistor according to him)!

It was actually a electric antenna from a VQ Statesman but I'll check the setup at the back of the head unit. If there is a blue wire do I need to pull the antenna apart to connect it?

    Thx All...
