For starters i have two 600wrms Rockford Fosgate 12 inch power subs, that were running off a deceased boschmann 2 channel amp (ZXIII).
A couple days ago my amp decided to blow up, without the fuses even blowing, but it was puffin out smoke. So my first question is does anyone know about the quality of the boschmann amp cos it was going fine until this happened?
Second Question is my mate suggested to replace it with a mono jaycar response amp rated at 1000wrms to run both subs, would this amp be sufficient, I am quite limited financially wise?
Third question, my subs came in there own custom sealed box supposedly made by an audio install company, but they are both in a single compartment, how much of a difference would this really make to the loudness?
And finally, my mate suggested porting the box to make it louder, is this worth it?
Thanks in advance for any tips, Greg.

ya mate is rite witha jaycar monobbloc if value for money is the problem as for the amp u had never had much to do with them but i wouldnt touch them
as for ur sub box i would leave it as is coz that was designed for those subs eg each box has a cubic cap for that sub as for ported is it free air or active subs!!!!
and what car u got them in??
got em in my 95 vs
you have totally lost me with that comment...
the T1's sound nice and tight in sealed enclosures - but if want some boom port those puppies you'll be blown away at the increase in volume. will be a bit peakier but still sound pretty sweet if your not too pedantic. i would do it - but consider that your box will have to double in size nearly...

Havent heard too much about those amps. A Jaycar monoblock would do the job fine, what size cable to you have running from the battery?
A sealed box like they are in now will sound good over a wide variety of music (a flat frequency response), but will lack in overall output. Ported boxes are superior to sealed but are more difficult to get right. Box volume, port/s size and length all are critical to a good sounding enclosure.
You could port that box, but it would sound like crap because it was designed to be a sealed box, you can always build a new, much bigger, ported box......but this will take up alot of space in your boot. You'd probably need aleast 4cu.ft.
EDIT: Joe Peeps beat me to it![]()
hmmm well the sealed box fitted on that lump barely so wont port in the meantime i guess, ummm its a 4 gauge from the battery to a distribution block that splits into two 8 gauges.
OK, yeah if you want boot space then ported is basically out of the question. 4AWG should be fine for the Jaycar mono, but what other amp are you using and whats it rated at (wrms)?
a cheapy powervox from ebay :S rated at 100x4, but doubt that is true, just running the cab speakers which need changing to, but thatll wait till i get more money
