i have installed my CD player in my car but it is to long to actually fit...
it hits some black thing behind the dash that im not quite sure what its for. my CD player is similar to the sony XR-F5100. because it sits roughly a centimetre out the cd player bounces when i go over a bump which means i cant play cd's only the radio. so if u can tell me what to do please help.
Behind the unit is the heater box. Do you have RCAs (to an external amp) connected to the head-unit?
If so then you'll probably need right angled RCA adaptors, which will give you sufficent room behind the unit.
Something like these:
Jaycar Electronics
If you havent got RCAs connected then its just a matter of trying to keep the wiring loom under the unit while you insert it into the dash. It will be a tight fit either way.
Basically what im assuming is the wiring is "coiling" up behind the unit and restricting it from going any further back, this is a common problem with VN-VS commodores and it takes a few times to get the unit in properly.
99% of aftermarket stereos fit in VS very nicely.Like what holdenboy says, if you have rca wires running amps you need right angle rcas so it sits in properly. The only units that dont fit are cheap and nasty ones that are deeper than 155mm.
