hey guys I just installed a pioneer head unit, looks and sounds great. cept one problem. when i put it to tuner the areial doesnt go up. yet the reception is fine. I worry itll get worse really easy drives out in the country. what could be the problem. there was one blue wire that wasnt connected to anything but I thought that was the remote.
any ideas boys ??
How did you wire up the unit? did you solder your pioneer wires to the standard loom or use an adaptor plug to suit the VY?
The blue/white wire from the pioneer should be connected to the white wire in your stock loom.
i just used a wireing harness for pioneer and it plugged right into the two plugs of the vys stock plugs.
OK, just check with a test light / multimeter to see if there is power going to the white wire in the stock loom (obviously with the radio on and the plugs still connected).
holdenboy but in the wiring harness isnt the blue/white wire for the amp? cuz i hae the same problem as trent and i have no idea wat it is
figured it out the blu/white wire does both, (stupid i reckon) but yer it does the remote for the amp and the power antenna
Well theres your answer, Just join a 5cm piece of wire from the blue wire thats comes out of the head-unit to whatever one the white wire turns into after the stock plug. Goes without saying to solder / tape these connections.....you could use "piggyback" type connectors but i prefer to solder.
This also means the antenna will stay up when playing a CD. Some brands have a seperate wire for the power antenna and when playing a CD the antenna retracts as its not needed.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.....too many brands and they all do things differently.
there are 2 positives from the antenna.
white and red.
the red one goes to a constant 12v supply and the white one goes to the blue remote wire.
problem solved!
yeah got it all working guys, this bloody harness was more pain than good. the hard active wasnt connected right so everytime the car went off youd loose all your preset channels and stuff. lol thats the last time, next im just cutting stripping and crimping
You would think they'd have this sort of stuff figured out before making a harness to suit the VY. Well you know what do do next time anyway![]()
