Hi ppl, just a question. Im about to start a boot install for my VT, and Im gonna raise the floor so I can put the amps under there with a perspex top so you can see them. Do you think I need to install a fan so that I keep the amp cool, or do you think there will be enough ventilation for them? If I have to put fans in Im gonna put computer fans in. Any ideas much appreciated.
What are you planning on doing? Removing the false flooring of the boot and replace it with perspex? or make a boot shaped perspex box and put them amps in there.
Just make sure you leave your amps well vented and you should be fine Most amps are fitted with mosfet power suplies.
Shove some fans in there, get sum thru flow happening, soo it blows past the amps, cool air in one side, hot air out the other.
The perspex n false floor is only goin to trap the heat, soo if u like ur sytem up loud, its bet to cool em, or it will just cook.
Couple 120mm pc fan on each side will do the trick, u can even get sum temp sensitive onse that speed up the hotter it is.
Timmos, basically what I'll be doing is making a false fllor but having a perspex window to show the amps. I wont be crankin it, its more sound quality then loudness. But as you said calais_cruzin, I might just point the fans in just in case I do want to crank it![]()
yes certainly use fans, you need to have adequeat airflow for your amps.
Well depending on the amps and how much your going to crank em. Having cooling fans is almost certainly better than not having fans but also not necessarily needed. if your sealing up the amps into the wheel well in a box type arrangment then theres obviously going to be a heat dissaption issue, unless you make a grill behind the amps for the heat to escape out of. How exactly do you propose to mount the amps and make a perspex or glass cover. making a box thats say vinyled in white showing the amps with the perspex cover will generate heat under the perspex panel. ANd fans are relativly cheap, say about 20 dollars per fan.
