Wondering if anyone on hear can offer some ideas on a problem with my Pioneer 5.1 receiver?
Recently my Subwoofer has being making a thumping noise whenever I change the selection dial on the receiver. After taking the subby to authorised servicer, I was informed that there was nothing wrong with it and it was more than likely the receiver.
After getting the subby home and re-checking all connections and the like I noticed that the thumping noise is the only sound the subby is making; there is absolutely no bass being produced when watching a movie or listening to music.
Hoping someone can help. Thanks

Check your RCA leads they maybe wedged and squashed and the 2 wires might be touching..
Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous when the first thing you do is stand up and say, 'My name is Ray, and I am an alcoholic'?
Does someone you know (friend/family) have a amp/receiver that you can use to test if your receiver is the problem? That way, it is pretty easy to find out if your receiver is dodgy, or something else is.
I would say wiring. I had this problem when a couple strands of speaker wire managed to reach the other terminals on the sub box. The subs wouldn't work intermittantly, and they thumped when turning the car/headunit off

It'll most likely be the RCA output circuit of the receiver. I've seen it a few times, I think it was just a transistor but you'll need Pioneer to fix it up.
Does your sub have its own internal amp, or just uses outputs from the receiver? It will have/should have rca leads running to it if its got its own amp.
I assume youve checked for the obvious, such as subwoofer on/off on the receiver.
Sounds like a problem with the receiver.
Perhaps check that your subby is working for yourself by putting another signal source into the sub, which of course will depend on whether its has internal amp or not.
