CD not in player but player thinks there is.

I have the stock head unit in my VX. I went to put a CD in and the mechanism to load it started making a clicking sound like it could not grab the CD. I took the CD out but the mechanism loaded. Now I can't a CD in and it won't reset the loading mech.
Does anyone know how to counteract this problem.
I'm thinking the must be a micro switch or sensor that tells the unit that it has a CD in it. If I can trigger this and hit the eject button...

You could try something as simple as disconnecting the battery for 30 sec. and see if that fixes it.
Otherwise just wait untill someone like Phreddy comes on, he knows a fair bit about these units.

Your cd player is faulty, need to be repaired, fairly common with these units. Most likely the upper spacer plate plastic has become brittle and broken making the cd player think theres a cd in it. And the mechanism timing will have gone out of alignment.
