hey all
ive got a 2007 model 760watt 2chanel pioneer amp, in bridged mode powering my sub.
latley its been getting quiet hot and as soon as the volume is up just a little it lasts about 10mins then it starts cutting out and no bass until u turn it right down and then it can produce bas again.
what could be causing this??
thanks

i had my bridged as well and when this happened one day, the sub kicked in again it wasnt a bass sound it was just popping. Sounded like i blew my sub cone, i couldn't figure out what it was for like a week, then i played around with the channels and it seems it does it whenever i have it bridged.
weird because iv had it bridged for like a year, does it mean the channel is ****ed?
anyway iv got it running off 1 channel now. its weak as hell and distorts really bad if its up loud but its going to have to make do until i can afford a new amp.
pain in the ass because i havnt had that amp for very long
im no electronics expert but would it have anything to do with the grounding of the amp? just a thought?
Check the other topic i just replied to about protectino mode. Usually most amps have them and the one in this topic would probably have the overheating protection. So when it gets hot it just shuts itself off to cool down so there's no permanent damage. Solution is a fan!? Or a new mounting spot in a cooler area?
thats a good thought. if you have a volt meter see if your getting enough from your earth
this problem sounds to me more like a overheating issue then anything else
remove the amp for it current spot and mount it in a area where it will get more air or remount it in same spot with a blocks under it to raise the height to allow air flow under the amp
but this also sounds like you are trying to drive the amp to hard try lowering the gains and running the stereo at the same volume the whole time until you get a crisp clear bass
sorry forgot to add that popping sound it the amp basically shooting a surge of power out when it kicks back in
What model number is the sub?
i dont think it would be grounds as it has been workin fine for a long time, i reckon it must be to do with me fiddling wid the gains and bass boost, i also tweaked my other pioneer 2 chanel for the rear speakes but that doesnt get hot or hav any worries.
do u think i shuld just downtune it a bit and see wat happens

downtune it mate, could also be on its way out if it keeps doing it but sounds like the gains too high which makes it cut out, had it happen before, turned the gain on the sub down just a bit and worked flawlessly ever since

If you have the bass boost on full and gain all the way up, there's your reason.
