Default No sound from standard deck in VY

Hey guys, the other day my 6 stacker Blaupunkt deck lost its voice The cd's still play and the channels still tune etc, but there is absolutely ZERO sound output.
Is there a protection fuse or something for the speaker outputs? Maybe at the back of the deck or something? Getting sick of singing to myself.
Someone suggested I try disconnecting the battery, I tried that, left it off for a couple of hours, still no joy. Thought it would be easier to ask first rather than stuff around trying to get the deck out. Done it before and would prefer to not have to do it if possible!

possibly the cables on the plug have come loose.. pull out the deck and take a look at the adapter.

You'll see at the top of the deck is a wiring diagram so you know what cable is supposed to be plugged in where.

Another option is the internal amps may have died.

Yeah, could be the internal amp.....also could be a speaker wire/s touching each other or earth (metal part of the car).

The thing that makes me think it's not that is that it was working fine when I turned it off, then both speakers were dead when I turned it back on. Would be a pretty unlikely scenario that both speakers shorted while the car was off.
There was a heavy dew that night though and the windows were down, so perhaps there was moisture in the stereo when I turned it back on and it fried the amps. Bugger, those things are mongrels to work on!!

May only be one speaker that shorts, will probably send the amp that drives all speakers into protection, meaning all speakers go. Thats just a thought, Im not sure if thats how it works.

Dead right Kopper - it only takes one channel shorted to shut down all channel power amps. It can be just one wire, as these amp chips are used in a bridged output mode. (ie - neither speaker wire is grounded, but if either one touches ground it constitutes a short)
