VZ Maximum aftermarket Speaker depth

Hey all, my last audio upgrade went well int eh SV6, but now i want to totally remove all stockies from my car and put my current 6" speakers into the back and replace those with a new set of splits i just bought.

They are 6.5" so i know i'll have to cut away a bit to make them fit, but my next problem is depth...these speakers are very deep, 3" mounting depth which is just over a full inch deeper than the current speakers in the front doors.

Is this too deep? How deep can i go? I've tried googling and searching forums but have only found info on how deep the stock speakers are etc.

not sure what the max mounting depth is but I managed to fit Rainbow Vanadiums in my doors which have a 66mm mounting depth, they were originally installed with 24mm MDF spacers and then I built my own fibreglass pods as a copy of the stock ones, just bigger to allow for the bigger driver.
you should be fine, will prob need a spacer of some kind though

You can fit any, and i do mean any 6.5 inch split into a VZ door.

I reckon you would struggle to fit Rainbow Power splits in the doors without modification of the door trim, those suckers have a 96mm mounting depth

hey i just put 6.5" herts with crossover and splits all round in my vy. all i did was cut the old speaker pod.
