i just installed a Pioneer DEH-p3000IB after the old one fried the speaker outputs{my fault lol} into my car with a jl audio a1400 class d monoblock amp and 2 kicker comp 12"subs{4ohm} with 4 guage wiring. now the h/u works great but it is making the amp run in protect mode which makes the subs not work. they were running perfectly off the old headunit which i rewired up to test when i noticed this problem and they ran fine and so did the amp. i have read the manual without answers. i have tried adjusting everything i can think of and i know its not the amp or subs because they worked fine on the old headunit. anyone know what i can do with the settings or something. ground is good, power is good. im stumped
Could be the difference in RCA pre-out voltage, i assume youve tried turning the gain down a touch, or turing down the bass/loud settings?
yea tried just about everything. have no clue.it has in the installation book that its initial setting is monaural or something like that. cant remember the word exactly but cant find any setting for that either
There is a reason for your amp running in protection mode. 1: The amplifier has been damaged by a short circuit to earth on the speaker terminals. 2: Theres a thermal overload or a short circuit between the speaker terminals. 3: The subwoofers voice coil has siezed and caused a short circuit. Check with a digital multimeter voltage to amplifier, impedance of the subwoofer. Anything lower than 2 ohms can cause the amplifier to run into protection. Very rarely does a headunit "make" the amp run into protection. It is interesting to note that your old units ouputs " fried". how was it your fault, explain what you did. You could have spiked the amplifier.
lol i turned the speakers up a bit to high and the amp went into protect. turned it down, amp and subs came back on perfect and speakers didnt so i bought a new headunit. i hooked the old heead unit up and subs and amp worked perfect still. plugged new one in and it doesnt. this is why i beleive its the headunit.
that is a weird problem, the subs work with the old h/u and the speakers work with the new h/u, the solution is obviously to use both h/us at once
ha ha ha ur a funny one.
