Default VE sv6 or ss with aftermarket cd/mp3

    Hello all

Has anybody had an aftermarket mp3 player built in under the hvac controls in their VE sv6 or ss?

I am aware it has been done, just hoping that someone might have some pictures of what the install looks like.

    Thanks

    Ashley

This was done on ve commodore. You have to cut out the heater venting that goes to the rear of the centre console for the the rear passengers.

I originally had a pioneer headunit fitted in but because the rca jacks were on the right hand side it didnt fit in as much as the alpine. The alpines rca jacks are on the left hand side. It hards to explain but there is only so much you can cut out under the hvac controls.
    Hope the pics help.

Hi, i would recommend just keeping everything stock and just buying the mp3 compatible cd player unit from holden. I have this wired to a line output converter. People say that aftermarket head units sound better but i have to give it to my LOC as it gives a really clear sound. The reason i recommend this is it avoids heaps of problems with room and cutting of the center console and even complications when you sell the car as the rear airconditioning vent will be affected.

By the looks of those pics i'd save yourself the trouble and stick to factory. The idea of cutting the console would be enough to turn me off.
    My 2 cents.

Your best bet would be to go through a dealer but i am not sure at all. i think you should be looking at around $700. It cost $595 from holden when you bought the car as they take your old one. To buy it out right should be around $700 but dont quote me for it start with the dealer then other places might be able to get it for you cheaper.
