    Default speaker whining

hey, ever since iv had my vs my rear speakers emit a whining noise. It comes and goes when im driving, it always gets louder when i press more on the accelerator, and there is no whine at all when only the ignition is on.
I noticed that when I turn the amp to only low range it doesnt make the noise.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

soz bout the slow reply, as i said its only the rear speakers making the noise when the engines on, i tried 2 other amps today and it still does it so id be fairly certain its the rear speakers.
    The gear I have is:
    sony xplode 1000w sub
    sony xplode 800w mono amp
    pioneer 2 channel amp
    2x JL audio rear speakers
    pioneer head unit

did you use the same ground point with the amps you tried it with? both of my amps used to whine with the engine revs too, the alternator charging the battery sends feedback through a weak ground point. Sand all around the ground point and make sure its on solid bare metal. Also if this doesnt work run a cable from the Negative of the battery to the ground point on the body of the car just behind the battery tray, use either a 8 or 4 gauge cable to do it.

the first thing i did when i heard the noise was tried changing ground points but it didnt stop it. Just tried running the cable from the battery, it didnt work.

How have you ran the power and RCA cables? are they ran down the same side of the car?

Also, where have you earthed the speaker amp out to?......and have you sanded back the area to bare metal?

Firstly, you wanna run the RCAs and power cables down different sides of the car, The RCAs may be picking up interference from the power cable.

Secondly, sand back the area to bare metal, this ensures a good connection.

One thing about that ive wondered, the RCAs and power cables eventually come close to each other when they join at the Amp, so why isnt that ever an issue?

    /end ampnoob question.

And_ROOS, thats a great question. The answer is because the amount of exposure to each other is so small. If you run them next to each other along the length of the car, there is a greater exposure area/surface area between the wires(probably not the best word).

Basically the closer you get the two wires and the longer the wires are together, the more noise will be induced between the two. In that short little bit where the wires come into the amp, there will be noise induced, but it will be very small and will probably be filtered by the amp.

Hope that sort of explains it.

If they cross at right angles, there isn't much inductance, if they run parallel, there is.

    Thats the theory anyway
