Hi I have 2 Cadence amps and i need to check if they're faulty can anyone let me know what tests i can perform and what tools i would need without wiring them in.
thanks
To "bench" test the amps you'll be needing a decent 12-14v power supply (20-40A) or car battery, a head-unit for a source, a pair of RCA cables, and a speaker/subwoofer.
You could also just take them into your local specialist car audio retailer and they can test them for you.
Did you already forget about the thread you posted 3 hours ago? lol
i thought it had been removed, i couldnt find it.
thanks, but i was hoping I may have been able to do it with a multimetre or IR Tester ect.
It maybe possible to test the amp with a multimeter, however, unless you knew what you were doing and had a circuit diagram with the specs of every component and possibly a few days up your sleeve then really the only way is to actually operate the amp.
Its unlikely you have access to a high power DC supply, so as mentioned in the previous post, an actual car battery would be needed.
You can run any sound source you like into the amp, be it an ipod, domestic CD player etc and trigger the amp by just putting 12V on the remote wire.
Unless you have an oscilloscope to look at the waveform produced into some dummy loads using some test tones, then you will also need some bullet proof 4 ohm speakers to establish that the amp is actually producing what it should.
yeah mate wire up the amp and put the power and the remote wires together and place those two together on the positive side of the battery and place the negitive on the negitive thats going to tell you if it actully works power wize . now to cheak if it puts out sound you would haft to do one of 2 things 1 is to splice into the existing wires that go to one speeker and run them to your amp and join another speaker thats not in the car to the to the amp on those same outputs u joined the existing speaker up to and hear the diffrence compared to the other speakers . 2 is to run you existing AV leads to your AMP and connect a speaker to the corisponding outputs and then you will know for sure if the amps is working ok Any Question Please Do hessitate to Messege me or send an email Let me know how you go
